Just like humans, pets can suffer from seasonal allergies. Excessive licking, scratching and biting that the allergy cause can put the dog or cat at risk for more serious problems like skin infections. 50% of the pet owners do not know that their pet suffers from allergies. Following are some of the most common allergies, tips and treatments. Never wait if you notice any of the symptoms but make an appointment with the vet.

Fleas are the number one cause of allergic reactions in pets. The bite of just one flea is enough to send flea-allergic pets into itching and scratching.

Fleas control program; monthly spot-on medication that kills adult ticks and fleas and disrupts the lifecycle of the parasite to prevent more fleas from hatching and maturing.

Pollens, holds, dust mites, storage mites, dander and other environmental substances.

When you pet inhales or come in contact with one of these substances it can irritate the skin.

Repeated injections of a serum containing allergens to decrease the immune system sensitivity for them. Symptomatic treatment with medication that help dampen tje pet’s allergic response.

Ingredients in food

Ingredients in food that initiate an allergic reaction when eaten. Food allergies not only cause itchy skin, but can also cause vomiting or diarrhoea.

Rigorous food trial during which time a dog or cat can only eat a diet that does not contain common allergens like beef, dairy and fish.
